Welcome to Person2Person
History of Person-to-Person
"The work we accomplish each year is made possible in large part by our contributors. Individuals, foundations, civic groups and corporations give so generously to fund Emergency Assistance, Scholarships and Camperships or donate to the Food Pantry and the Clothing Center. With their support, we are able to provide assistance to those who need a helping hand."

Gifts: Person-to-Person accepts donations to assist our neighbors with basic needs.

Gifts are welcome at all times and during the year two special appeals are made – a Campership Appeal in the Spring and an Annual Appeal in the Fall.

Gifts may be made by check* or credit card, and we are able to process gifts billed to your credit card on a monthly basic. We accept gifts of stock, wire transfers, and legacy gifts.

Special gifts may be made in honor of or in memory of or as birthday and holiday gifts.

Please ask your employer if they match charitable gifts. Matching gifts are always welcome.

Contact Diane Reese Tucker at or 203 656-4631 x158 for more information about stock and wire transfer instructions.

*All gifts are deeply appreciated. Please note that a donation by check will save Person-to-Person a 2-3% fee per credit card transaction.

Corporate Giving: Person-to-Person encourages corporations to partner with us to meet basic needs in Lower Fairfield County.

Please ask your company to match your gift to Person-to-Person.

Special Gifts: Special gifts in honor or in memory of someone are a great way to convey a gift of caring or remembrance.

Special gifts can be made for friends, family and colleagues, party favors for guests for any occasion – birthdays, holidays, parties and special events.

A special gift in memory of someone is a lasting tribute of remembrance.

Legacy Gifts: Let Person-to-Person be part of your legacy. Plan a gift for the future to help us continue our mission.

A simple bequest through your will to Person-to-Person will help us meet the needs of low-income families living in Lower Fairfield County; and it will provide a lasting legacy in your name.

In-Kind Gifts

Food: Our Emergency Food Pantry provides groceries for clients to prepare three meals a day for several days.

The majority of the food distributed to clients is donated to P2P during the course of the year. Our clients also benefit from annual food drives – such as the High Holy Days Food Drive organized by area temples and the Postal Food Drive organized by the Darien Letter Carriers, and other drives at local schools, houses of worship and businesses. And the ongoing generosity of individuals keeps the Emergency Food Pantry shelves stocked.

Please consider adding non-perishable items to your shopping list when next you're at the grocery story, purchasing extra items during storewide sales or shop online at Pea Pod to have groceries delivered directly to Person-to-Person at 1864 Post Road, Darien CT 06820.

Clothing: Our Clothing Center is a free "store" where clients can shop as often as every thirty days for shoes, clothing, outerwear, linens and small household goods.

All items are gently used and donated by people throughout Lower Fairfield County. The clothing made available to our clients is seasonally appropriate, clean and in good condition.

In-Kind Giving: We always need clothes for babies and children, plus-size clothing, linens, blankets, towels, dishes, glassware, silverware, pots and pans and small appliances (e.g., coffee makers, toasters and microwaves). Donations of children's books in any language (especially English and Spanish) and stuffed animals in good condition are also appreciated.

Please bring your donations in large shopping bags with handles, which we give to our clients so they may take items home, and on hangers when possible.

We ask that that you donate only clean, gently-used seasonal clothing and household items.

We no longer accept furniture (cribs, beds, chairs, tables, dressers, desks, etc.) of any kind. We do not accept sporting equipment, bicycles, strollers, high chairs or similar items. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY OF THESE ITEMS AT P2P – because the time required for our volunteers to dispose of these items takes them away from the necessary and important work of assisting the people who come to us for help.

Please do not leave donations when the office is closed – items left at other times are exposed to the elements and we are often forced to discard these donations.
